Overview

Associate Director of Regional Engagement

Responsibilities
  • Develop and coordinate a strategic market presence in key markets for Georgetown by managing Georgetown's Alumni Clubs and Alumni Contacts in these regions.
  • Partner with Club and Contact volunteers via monthly meetings and travel to each market as budget allows.
  • Cultivate, train, educate and steward a network of volunteers for leadership positions within the Alumni Club/Contact structure and other Georgetown volunteer roles.
  • Engage Clubs and Contacts to deliver key messages, campaign talking points, and support University initiatives, building an informed ambassadors network for Georgetown.
  • Work with Development Officers in relevant regions (West Coast and Southwest), the annual giving team, alumni career services, and unit-based Development Officers to create a comprehensive strategy for each market.
  • Plan, coordinate and program off-campus events to reach alumni and broader constituent bases through regional events and programs.
  • Oversee communications strategy for the Alumni Clubs Committee and liaise with the Vice-Chair for Communications and the Communications Committee for the Board of Governors of the Alumni Association.
  • Serve as a professional representative of Georgetown University to donors, volunteers, prospects, vendors, faculty, staff and students; travel as required including some evenings and weekends.
Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

The Associate Director reports to the Senior Director of Regional Engagement. This position interacts with Alumni Relations colleagues, Office of Advancement Staff, University Staff, the Georgetown University Alumni Association and external constituents. They will work closely with internal and external constituents for university-wide events.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Minimum 3 years experience, including 1 year in alumni relations, event planning, or a related area, preferably in higher education.
  • Proficiency with standard computer applications including Microsoft Office suite, internet and e-mail.
  • Proven experience working with volunteers.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills and attention to detail.
  • High level of self-confidence and enthusiasm; ability to be a self-starter; strong customer service focus.
  • Ability to tend to the needs of the alumni body enthusiastically, professionally, diplomatically, and promptly.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment on several projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in higher education is a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills; personable and experienced in customer relations.
  • Experience working with volunteers and alumni relations.
  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to assimilate data, exercise sound judgment and discretion, and work independently.
  • Accuracy in materials preparation, dependability, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Event management knowledge is a plus; familiarity with social networking programs is a plus.
Work Mode Designation

This position has been designated as Hybrid 2 Days. Such designations are reviewed to meet evolving University needs. Details about Georgetown’s mode of work designations can be found on the Department of Human Resources website (without links).

Pay Range

The projected salary range for this position is $47,586.00 - $87,558.13. Compensation is determined by candidatel qualifications, experience, education, skills, certifications, and the University’s business needs.
