Job DescriptionThe Center for Student Involvement (CSI) is the hub for the student experience at American University. CSI facilitates leadership development, organizational advising, and programs that help foster a sense of belonging for the next generation of changemakers. Our office is home to Student Government, Student Activities Council, Student Media, AU Club Council, Recognized Student Organizations, Fraternity & Sorority Life and the Graduate Leadership Council.
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Student Involvement (SI), the Graduate Assistant for Student Involvement facilitates student leadership and engagement opportunities. This position advises recognized undergraduate student organizations and student governance groups.
Essential Functions- Advise and provide support for undergraduate student organizations and student leaders, including event planning, new club registration, club reactivation, annual renewal, general inquiries, and supporting dedicated RSO spaces in the Mary Graydon Student Center.
- Advise dedicated student government branch(es) and student leaders through training, meeting attendance, and regular 1:1s.
- Attend weekly CSI staff meetings.
- Assist with Center for Student Involvement events including Welcome Week and Late Night and Weekend programming.
- Part-time.
- 20 hours per week.
- $18.95 per hour.
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Able to work beginning mid-August, some evenings and weekends required.
- Experience in and/or working with student organizations, leadership development, policy or advocacy initiatives preferred.
