Join World Learning as a Visiting Faculty member for the IHP Health and Community program. This interdisciplinary role supports 15–30 undergraduate students from leading U.S. colleges in a semester‑long, global study abroad experience across Washington, DC (USA), India, South Africa, and Argentina.
Reports to: Program Director, IHP Health and Community
Salary Range: $28,000 – $32,000 (commensurate with experience)
Travel: Travel insurance provided; travel required to the four destinations
Start Date: July 6, 2026
Term: Approximately 5–6 months

Responsibilities- Facilitate learning and teach two courses:
- Health, Culture, and Community (introductory course in medical anthropology)
- Community Health Research Methods and Ethics (introductory research methods class)
- Provide briefings, debriefings, and support for program components beyond lectures
- Give timely feedback on assignments
- Participate in all country program activities including guest speakers, site visits, and non‑lecture components
- Work with the Provost's Office, Program Director, and Country Coordinators to resolve academic, administrative, and student issues
- Ensure health and safety of students in partnership with SIT Student Affairs and local staff
- Verify that all students traveling on the official group flight are checked in and cleared through immigration
- Collect receipts and submit expense reports according to World Learning policies
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Experience/
Education:
- Terminal degree (PhD or equivalent; ABD considered) in medical anthropology, cultural anthropology, sociology, or public health/policy
- Expertise in at least one listed topic area and general knowledge of history and social theory
- Experience teaching at the college level with a strong commitment to experiential learning and field‑based research
- Experience living and working abroad, ideally in at least one of the program countries
Required Behaviors:
- Patience, adaptability, collegiality, cross‑cultural competence, and organization for an intensive, team‑oriented semester spanning four countries
- Strong ability to support and communicate with students throughout the study abroad experience, both in and out of the classroom
Vaccination Policy: Vaccination strongly recommended for U.S. office employees, except those with medical or religious exemptions; boosters recommended within 30 days of eligibility per CDC guidance.
