Job Overview
The Admissions Officer Serves As a Primary Contact For Prospective And Admitted Students, Maintaining a Portion Of The 14,000+ Applications For Six M.D. And Dual-degree Programs Within The School Of Medicine And Responding To Questions And Concerns Regarding Admissions Policies, Procedures, Requirements And Other Related Information. Additional Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Communicates our mission and vision with the purpose of maximizing the quality of applicants to the medical school through graduate fairs, virtual fairs, presentations, and social media.
- Participates in evaluating application credentials on a portion of the completed files for a first-round application cognitive and non-cognitive review based on general criteria established by the Committee on Admissions and the Vice Dean for Student Affairs/Associate Dean for Admissions.
- Periodically presents, through formal presentations and informal conversation in a variety of settings, an overview of the School of Medicine (philosophy, curriculum, school resources, and student life) and the application process to medical schools.
- Ensures successful management of the application management system and regularly interacts with outside vendors, the general public, prospective applicants, and current applicants.
- Serves as a primary contact for students regarding interview day, along with the other Admissions Officers, and works closely with faculty and staff to ensure successful execution of interview days
- Manages onboarding for interviewers and proactively communicates to confirm and adjust interview schedules.
- Meets with interviewed applicants in a group setting for a formal welcome, and is available to meet individually with the interviewees who have further questions regarding the application process.
- Supports the Student Ambassador Program by coordinating activities, training sessions, recruitment efforts and ongoing communications with ambassadors.
- Manages the admissions office’s social media presence—curating content, engaging with followers, and coordinating a content calendar to promote events, student stories, and key deadlines
- Prepares and analyzes data—compiling metrics on candidate performance and interviewer feedback, identifying trends, and generating insights to refine interview training and structure
This staff position reports to the Director of Admissions. The Officer collaborates and shares responsibilities with other Admissions Officers and maintains a close working relationship with other administrative offices within the School of Medicine, to include Advancement, the Office of the Dean, Student Affairs, Financial Aid, the Registrar and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging. This position assists the Director of Admissions through attendance at official School of Medicine functions such as recruitment fairs and Second Look Day.
