The Instructional Assistant will be responsible for the daily operation of the classroom in collaboration with the Classroom Teacher. The role involves providing high quality instruction in small groups to students each day, ensuring successful academic outcomes. The classroom environment is supportive and community‑based. The Instructional Assistant also cultivates and maintains ongoing relationships with students’ families, staff, and community members.
What You’ll Do Essential Job Functions- Work with the Classroom Teacher to plan classroom instruction
- Monitor students’ behavior and academic achievement; assist in establishing expectations for behavior in accordance with the school‑wide/classroom culture/discipline plan
- Effectively monitor children outside of classroom (e.g., recess, lunchroom) and while the teacher is occupied
- Intervene appropriately to prevent student disruption of the classroom’s instructional process; interact with students in a supportive way reflecting reciprocal respect
- Effectively plan and execute whole/small group instruction using appropriate student assessments to inform differentiated instruction
- Assume classroom responsibilities in the absence of the Classroom Teacher
- Have a Bachelor’s degree or 60+ college credits
- Have a demonstrated record of living LEARN’s Core Values
- Current participant in an Instructor Certification Program
- Bilingual
- Possess 1+ year of classroom experience
- Demonstrated track record of delivering gains in student academic achievement
Starting Salary: $32,000 - $38,000+ (starting salary)

Teachers will work in a busy and active environment, supervising all children at all times. Majority of work will be performed in a general classroom/school environment. May be asked to participate in organization‑sponsored events and meetings, such as field trips and network professional development, potentially after school hours.
Teachers may lift and carry children and equipment, and may spend time sitting on the floor or child‑sized furniture. The nature of work requires the ability to operate standard business office equipment, communicate and exchange information, compile documents, set‑up and maintain work files. Teachers must maintain classroom equipment and furniture in clean condition. Physical demands include standing, bending, reaching high and low, stooping, walking around the classroom, kneeling 60% of the day, walking up and down stairs several times a day, and lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds for short periods.
