Job Purpose

The Biology Department at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA is searching for an engaging, equity-minded teacher-scholar to join our teaching-centered department in a full-time one-year Lecturer position beginning in August 16th, 2026. We are looking for a colleague trained in biology with expertise and teaching experience in neuroscience and introductory biology. We are committed to pursuing excellence in teaching by creating engaging, inclusive learning environments for undergraduate students, and are looking for candidates who share that commitment.

Teaching responsibilities will include the introductory biology courses (Information Flow in Biological Systems and Energy Flow in Biological Systems, and an upper division course in cellular neurophysiology. The teaching load will be the equivalent of 24 credits per year- typically two lecture courses with 2-3 lab sections per semester.
The position is a one-year non-renewable non-tenure-track teaching appointment.

Essential Functions
  • Teach the equivalent of 24 credits per year (typically 2 lectures and 2-3 labs each semester). Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Biology, Neuroscience, or related field.
  • At least one-year experience teaching undergraduate students in relevant courses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of engaging, inclusive teaching at the undergraduate level that includes designing and teaching lecture courses in-person.
  • Evidence of effectiveness in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and identities, including those historically underrepresented in the sciences.
