About the Role
A dynamic, student-centered public charter school in Northwest Washington, D.C. is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated
High School Special Education Teachers to join its instructional team for the 2026–2027 school year.
These full-time, hybrid roles includes on-campus instruction combined with remote planning and/or asynchronous responsibilities. The school is committed to inclusive practices, culturally responsive instruction, and ensuring all students receive the individualized supports they need to succeed academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction aligned to students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Deliver academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students with diverse learning needs
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers to implement accommodations and modifications
- Monitor student progress using data and adjust instruction accordingly
- Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and required documentation
- Support students in inclusive classroom settings and specialized instructional environments, as assigned
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment (in-person and online)
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Maintain consistent communication with families regarding student progress and services
- Collaborate with special education and grade-level teams
- Participate in professional development and contribute positively to the school community
Qualifications Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field
Experience
- Minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience in a charter school setting
- Experience teaching students with disabilities required
- Middle school special education experience preferred
Skills
- Strong understanding of special education instructional strategies and IEP implementation
- Ability to work effectively in inclusive and co-teaching environments
- Effective classroom management and strong organizational skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching
- Ability to obtain or hold appropriate DC teaching licensure
