DC Prep is a high‑performing network of public charter schools serving over 2,100 preschool through 8th‑grade students across six campuses in Wards 5, 7, and 8. We invite passionate educators to join our team of dedicated science teachers who often teach across two grade levels. At DC Prep, we set a high bar for student achievement and invest in the professional growth of our teachers.
Responsibilities- Plan, teach, and assess rigorous science instruction for the assigned grade level.
- Use data to inform instruction, track student progress, and target focus areas.
- Implement a standards‑based curriculum and provide differentiated instruction, including small‑group lessons.
- Participate in weekly professional development, classroom observations, and feedback conversations.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers to plan lessons, troubleshoot challenges, and adapt instruction.
- Engage families and the community to support student learning.
- Maintain instructional supplies, records, attendance reports, and assessments.
- Support school‑wide activities such as field trips, staff events, and parent conferences as needed.
- Adhere to work schedule:
Monday‑Friday, 7:15 AM – 4:15 PM;
Wednesday PD until 5:00 PM; occasional travel for PD or network events.
- Minimum 2+ years of lead teaching experience in an urban public school with a record of high student achievement (highly preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree from a competitive college or university required; advanced degree or concentration in education preferred.
- Desire to support student achievement in traditionally under‑served communities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
- Analytical skills and sound judgment for autonomous decision making.
- Organizational ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Positive attitude, maturity, and personal stability for a demanding role.

- Work at a desk/computer for extended periods.
- Stand or move in the classroom; be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Function in active, noisy environments.
- Repeat wrist/hand movements for computer use.
- Manage high‑stress conditions.
- Maintain punctuality at the assigned campus and participate in PD sessions.
- Manage instructional materials and student records.
- Attend mandatory events outside of school hours with advance notice.
