Academic Intervention Fellows at DC Prep

Academic Intervention Fellows (AIFs) support DC Prep’s mission by working with general and special educators to implement curricula for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). The program offers professional development and coaching that prepares AIFs for future teaching roles.

Qualifications Educational background and work experience
  • Experience in an urban public school with a record of high student achievement.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a competitive college or university.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Highly competitive salary.

Essential Functions
  • Daily schedule:
    Monday‑Friday, 7:15 am–4:15 pm; 7:30 am classroom start.
  • Wednesday: 5:00 pm for Professional Development.
  • Occasional reporting to other campuses for professional development or network events.
  • Clerical duties: instructional supplies, student reports, attendance, assessments.
  • Morning, lunch, and afternoon duties as assigned by the principal.
  • Additional responsibilities: field trips, after‑school events, conferences, visits, and other events involving parents and students.
Physical Demands
  • Must sit and work at a desk/computer for extended periods.
  • Must spend most day standing or mobile in the classroom, talk, hear, grasp, reach, and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to concentrate in noisy environments.
  • Repetitive wrist/hand/finger movements to use computer or related equipment.
  • Ability to handle potential high‑stress conditions.
