Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Professions
Salary Range: $160,000 to $180,000
Trinity in Washington, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital, seeks a Dean for the School of Nursing and Health Professions (NHP). The Dean is the chief academic and administrative leader for the school, providing strategic vision, academic oversight, and operational management for a diverse portfolio of undergraduate and graduate programs. Enrolling about 300 students, NHP includes undergraduate programs in Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Public Health, and Social Work, as well as graduate programs in Counseling, Occupational Therapy, and Public Health.
The Dean is responsible for fostering academic excellence, supporting faculty and student success, strengthening external partnerships, and advancing the Trinity’s commitment to social justice, health equity, and community engagement.
Reporting to the Provost and supervising a staff including 19 full‑time faculty and 13 administrative staff as well as adjunct faculty as needed, the Dean is responsible to oversee the design and development of academic programs, ensuring that all programs meet accreditation and regulatory standards including CCNE, ACOTE, CACREP, CSWE and the D.C. Board of Nursing. The Dean leads faculty hiring and assessment along with faculty professional development.
The Dean is responsible to manage the unit budget and to steward significant gifts and grants supporting the unit’s programs and students. With the faculty, the Dean also builds and sustains strong partnership relationships for clinical placements and career pathways with healthcare systems, clinical agencies, community organizations and governmental partners throughout the Washington region.
Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in a field in which Trinity has a program including nursing, public health, counseling, occupational therapy, social work, or closely related health professions fields.
- Academic track record that includes:
- (a) experience as a faculty member in a related academic program,
- (b) at least 3 years of successful experience as a dean or equivalent senior academic administrator,
- (c) scholarly and professional achievements supporting appointment at the most senior level.
- At least three years of clinical experience in one of the major fields in Trinity’s curriculum.
- Experience with the healthcare systems in the Washington region is an advantage.
- Demonstrated success managing a diverse workforce to satisfy professional expectations and to achieve goals across all programs.
Position starts July 1, 2026.
