Teachingat Perry Street Prep
We are recruiting a special education teacher for the 2025‑26 school year for a self‑contained classroom serving students in grades 4–7. The teacher will deliver instruction to identified students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in an inclusion setting and develop and manage a classroom environment that supports differentiated instruction and student progress. Positions are full‑time, salaried, 10‑month roles.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with colleagues in developing cohesive Common Core‑aligned curriculum materials, increasing evidence‑based instructional resources, and establishing instructional goals grounded in research
- Utilize strong content knowledge to effectively present enticing and rigorous Common Core‑aligned lessons
- Develop Individualized Learning Plans (IEPs) for students on assigned caseload
- Ensure records for each identified student are up to date and well‑organized, containing necessary progress notes and assessments
- Modify assessments and classwork for students with special needs
- Assess student progress against IEP goals
- Track and monitor assessment results to regularly refine teaching practices and design differentiated lesson plans
- Communicate with families regarding service delivery and student progress
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required; special education or master’s degree preferred
- Two or more years of teaching experience as an elementary or middle‑school special education teacher in an urban environment preferred
- Experience with co‑teaching models preferred
- Experience writing and monitoring IEPs preferred
- A belief that all students can learn
- A desire to be an active part of a diverse community of educators, scholars, and families
- A strong work ethic, individual drive, and an ability to thrive in a collaborative environment
