- Plan and manage a general education inclusion classroom with assistant teachers.
- PreK: implement the school’s integrated early childhood curriculum.
- K: implement curriculum for ELA, Social Studies, Science, Math.
- Develop meaningful learning expeditions and projects.
- Assess student progress regularly; use data to plan instruction.
- Collaborate and co‑teach with inclusion, ELL, assistant, related service providers, teaching fellow.
- Work with Instructional Coaches to create inclusive, engaging lessons.
- Create a classroom culture practicing Responsive Classroom techniques.
- Engage parents and families weekly, acting as an ambassador in the community.
- Display student work based on current unit standards.
- Attend and participate in school events outside regular hours.
- Other curriculum, instruction, assessment duties as assigned.
- Ongoing assessment of student work using multiple tools; plan instruction and set short/long‑range goals.
- Maintain weekly grade book per school expectations.
- Utilize technology platforms to improve student achievement.
- Analyze student data regularly to improve instruction, ensure equity, and make program recommendations.
- Other accountability duties as assigned.
- Adhere to 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. work day.
- Regularly attend work and adhere to all attendance policies.
- Be on time for classes, duties, team meetings, professional development activities; communicate absences in advance.
- Participate in weekly Professional Learning Community meetings.
- Contribute to PLC sessions by sharing data, ideas, student work, materials, feedback, facilitating sessions.
- Participate in a two‑week Summer Professional Development in August.
- Seek additional professional development opportunities to achieve personal and school‑wide goals.
- Read provided school information and adhere to all deadlines.
- Respond to all emails within 24 hours or the next business day.
- Other professional duties as assigned.
- Implement Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS).
- Create and sponsor an inclusive, age‑appropriate club for the school year.
- Engage in Second Step implementation to assist students’ social and emotional development.
- Create and maintain a physically and emotionally safe environment for students.
- Communicate respectfully with students, staff, and families at all times.
- Model, practice, and discuss respectful, unbiased, effective communication with students.
- Other school culture expectations as assigned.
- Bachelor’s (required) or Master’s Degree in Education (preferred).
- Passing score on Praxis exams (preferred).
- 1–2 years of teaching experience in an urban school setting (preferred).
- Knowledge of pedagogy and experience teaching constructivistically.
- COVID‑19 vaccine preferred, not required.
- Track record of being a team player and community‑minded.
Salary range: $57,500–$88,500 per year. Staff may add up to an additional $2,000 by passing a language proficiency assessment ($1,000 spoken, $1,000 written in Spanish or Amharic). Salary is based on educational level, certification(s), and years of experience. Employment is renewed yearly according to evaluations and staff interest.
