An Instructional Assistant is vital in supporting student learning and fostering a positive classroom environment. They work closely with lead teachers to design and deliver engaging lessons, provide targeted interventions, and create an inclusive educational experience. Instructional Assistants also help monitor student progress, maintain classroom management, and build strong relationships with students and families to ensure academic and personal success. By collaborating with educators and staff, instructional assistants contribute significantly to a thriving school community.

- Assist the lead teacher in designing and preparing instructional materials and implementing daily lessons that engage all learners and fit in with the lead teacher’s long‑term learning plan.
- Assist the lead teacher in conducting and organizing ongoing assessments of student performance.
- Assist in delivering academic, social, or behavioral interventions for individual and small groups of students.
- Provide accommodations based on student needs to support their educational success.
- Monitor students in the classroom, hallways, recess, field trips, and other school‑related activities.
- Foster an ongoing relationship centered on hopes and dreams to engage parents and families in their children’s academic success.
- Engage in regular team meetings with the lead teacher to maintain a productive working relationship and to discuss progress toward yearly goals.
- Collaborate with the lead teacher on an ongoing basis to develop classroom goals, clarify role expectations, jointly determine characteristics of an effective working relationship, and understand each other’s strengths and working styles.
- Follow school‑wide procedures regarding attire, behavior, and punctuality.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records.
- Complete other duties as assigned to support the student and school community.
- Participate in occasional school events outside regular school hours.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in education (preferred).
- Organizational skills for maintaining accurate student records and managing classroom materials.
- Knowledge of child development and effective instructional strategies.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the dynamic needs of the school environment.
- Problem‑solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
- Commitment to fostering equity and inclusion in education.
- General technology capacity.
- References that reflect high standing with a past employer.
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds and stand for long hours.
