Middle School Math Teacher (Grades 4‑8)
Start Date: Immediate |
Role Type: Full‑Time, 10‑month |
Location: Washington, DC |
FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Environment
Teachers work Monday‑Friday 7:15 am‑4:15 pm, with 7:30 am class prep. Wednesday PD is until 5:00 pm. Staff may be required to travel to other campuses for PD or network events.

Essential Functions

  • Teach and facilitate instruction, including standards‑based curriculum, targeted interventions, and assessments.
  • Use data to guide instruction and improve student outcomes.
  • Perform clerical duties, such as managing instructional supplies, student reports, and attendance records.
  • Monitor students during transitions and participate in school wide routines.
  • Attend field trips, conferences, and after‑school events as needed.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities that arise during the school year.

Physical Demands

  • Sit and work at a desk/computer for extended periods.
  • Stand, move, and lift up to 30 lbs (with or without accommodations).
  • Navigate noisy and crowded environments (classroom, cafeteria, gym).
  • Wrist/hand/finger repetitive movements for computer work.
  • Manage high‑stress conditions.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of lead teaching in an urban public school with documented student achievement.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Commitment to serving under‑served communities.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Analytical and organizational skills for independent decision making.
  • Positive attitude, emotional constancy, and cultural humility.
  • Belief in DC Prep’s mission and value of diversity.
