Teach for America Program In-Person Tutor '25/'26

Hey Tutor has partnered with a school district in Washington DC and we are looking to hire math tutors who can assist elementary school students during and after regular school hours. You will be working with students between grades K-5. You will actively supervise students as you help them catch up from learning gaps developed over the past school year. You must be comfortable passing an in-person background check.

• Work with groups of students (without the support of a teacher or school site staff)
• Prepare area to start tutoring session
• May be responsible for picking up and dropping off students from designated areas in the school site
• Take attendance and run lessons through the Hey Tutor Dashboard (if applicable)
• Document student progress with the Hey Tutor Dashboard
• When requested by manager, facilitate students taking and completing baseline and summative assessments
• Lead a group of students in tutoring sessions using curriculum and materials provided by the program
• Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging for students
• Support students in making positive behavior choices
• Engage and interact with tutoring lessons alongside the students
• Daily clock in and out of Deputy for shifts
• Other duties as required by the Company, your manager, and/or the School Site

20 hours per week

9:30 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday to Thursday

• Must have completed an AA or higher, or be currently enrolled in college/university
• Tutoring experience, especially with kids
• Comfortable working in a classroom setting
• Clear FBI-DOJ background check (provided through Hey Tutor)

$29–$32 per hour. Pay depends on education and experience and will be determined at the time of the interview
