Overview

Supervisory Medical Officer – Psychiatry at the DC Department of Behavioral Health.

• Plan and direct operations of the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP).
• Provide direct oversight and supervision of psychiatrists, nurses, and related clinical staff.
• Develop and recommend new policies, program activities, and initiatives.
• Lead crisis and emergency services, including psychiatric assessment, extended observation, mobile crisis, and homeless outreach.
• Make major operational decisions, set objectives, ensure alignment with Chapter 80 Crisis Services, and evaluate staff performance.
• Supervise residents/externs from other institutions.

• Doctor of Medicine from an approved U.S. medical school.
• Current, unrestricted District of Columbia license to practice medicine.
• Completion of an approved internship and residency program.
• Certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or equivalent.
• One year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.

• Must possess a current, unrestricted D.C. medical license.
• Must be credentialed and privileged for clinical practice by the Behavioral Health Services Division.

• Pre‑employment physical examination, criminal background check, and drug test.
• Position considered Safety Sensitive – requires background checks and periodic drug testing.
