Position: Pediatrician - CNPA Foggy Bottom/Capitol Hill (PRN)

Pediatrician - CNPA Foggy Bottom/Capitol Hill (PRN) (240003JJ)

Comprehensive care of patients in the Children's Pediatrician & Associates practices, including appropriate documentation and reporting, supervision of assigned clinical and non‑clinical staff, and participation in assigned administrative & quality improvement activities and regularly scheduled provider meetings.

Qualifications

Minimum Education
:
Medical Doctor (M.D.) (Required) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
:

  • Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in the area of expertise.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
  • Ability to function independently in evaluating patient problems and developing a plan for patient care.
  • Ability to incorporate ethical concepts into patient care and discuss these with the patient, family, and other members of the health care team.
  • Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Demonstration of a personal commitment to Continuing Professional Development and ability to remain current on the developments and progress in primary care pediatrics.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.

Required Licenses and Certifications
:

  • Fully licensed and credentialed attending staff category physician on the medical staff of Children’s National Medical Center.
  • Completion of residency in pediatrics. Board eligible or board certification in general pediatrics by American Board of Pediatrics or American Osteopathic Association.
Functional Accountabilities – Commitment to World Class Care
  • Perform patient care, including examinations, tests, reports, procedures and other functions accepted as part of the practice of medicine consistent with normally accepted standards of care.
  • Perform complete physical examinations of each patient consistent with the normally accepted standard of care in the community including examinations of the head, eyes, ears, nose, throat, abdomen, liver, spleen, and all body systems.
  • Analyze reports and/or findings of tests and personal examinations to assess the medical condition of the patient, including diagnosing injury or illness and formulating a prognosis.
  • Perform or supervise invasive medical procedures such as injections, inoculations, and vaccinations.
  • Prescribe medication and treatment and recommend appropriate physical and dietary routines for prevention of disease and personal hygiene.
  • Ensure 24/7 coverage for patient care needs at assigned location(s).
  • Actively participate in family‑centered care and communicate in a professional and compassionate manner; refer patients to specialists and ancillary services as appropriate and coordinate care with consultants.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Appropriately document findings, procedures, etc. in the designated electronic medical record.
  • Obtain and record a detailed medical history of each patient, including chief complaint, present condition, personal history, and family history.
  • Maintain appropriate records relating to all professional services rendered, and prepare and attend to reports, claims, and correspondence necessary or appropriate to the professional services.
  • Provide timely reports of births, deaths, outbreaks of contagious diseases and other information required to appropriate governmental authorities and as required for company reporting.
Management and Administrative
  • Directly supervise nurses and other personnel in accordance with company policies, procedures and applicable laws.
  • Perform hiring, training, performance appraisal, rewarding, disciplining, and resolving employee concerns.
  • Participate in company governance, credentialing and peer review activities; attend at least 50% of related meetings.
  • Follow all policies and procedures of the company and any managed‑care organization with which the company contracts.
