Overview

This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Communications (OC).

As a Writer-Editor, GS-1082-13, you will draft and edit a broad range of written communications materials and develop external communication tactics that support CMS' mission and goals.

• Draft and edit potentially controversial communications products, including, but not limited to: press releases, videos, speeches, talking points, op/eds, social media content, and Linked In posts.
• Research and draft press statements, op-ed pieces, and a variety of written materials on major policy matters of the Administration and the Department.
• Serve as a subject matter expert to propose changes to the organization's editorial and publishing policies and practices. Prepare written guidance on how to recognize and correct common errors and weaknesses in writing and present at meetings.
• Provide oral and written communications expertise to senior officials and other staff regarding style and format for external materials.
