As a Researcher at the NBC News Washington Bureau, you will play a critical role in the news organization’s Washington beat coverage. In this highly collaborative role, you will work closely with the news desk, beat correspondents, and other producers on key shift. The Researcher will spend their time focused on the White House beat. You should be willing to work flexible hours, days, and holidays, with a willingness to travel.

• Log beat-related events and background calls during shifts
• Assist in breaking news and ongoing story coverage, including through reporting and research
• Work with correspondents to prepare for live, taped, and written reports for all NBC News Group platforms
• Utilize a variety of logging platforms, such as Otter and Media Central
• Pitch original story ideas for all platforms
• Help maintain spreadsheets and research documents related to the White House

Basic Requirements:

• Must have a minimum of 1 year editorial experience working in production at a network/cable news operation
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, political science, another related field, or equivalent work experience
• Must be willing to live and work in Washington, D.C.
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours and travel
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Salary range: $58,490.
