Job Summary

Broadcast Management Group (BMG) seeks an on-air Xpression Graphics Operator to work on daily live shows. The Graphics Operator will manage all aspects of broadcast graphics for all live and live-to-tape programming assigned. This position will be responsible for operating a Ross Xpression graphics system during all live and live-to-tape studio productions and testing each production element before air. The Graphics Operator will build all graphic elements within the Xpression system thirds, bugs, full screens, etc.

The Graphics Operator will work directly with the Graphic Designer to develop the technical standards for all broadcast graphics. This position will require a flexible work week due to live sports that often happen on weekends. This position will also design graphics for live broadcasts, social platforms, and websites. This position will require creativity, efficiency, and transparent communication on time-sensitive projects.

Responsibilities
  • Operate the Xpression system during live and live-to-tape segments
  • Build and update all show graphics
  • Make on-the-fly edits as needed
  • Ensure that all graphics elements are in line with the overall style guide for the relevant program
  • Test and QC all graphic elements before air
  • Develop the technical standards for graphic elements across BMG projects
  • Ensure that all graphic elements display correctly on various delivery devices, including mobile, tablets, computers, and televisions
  • Learn and work on other studio systems and positions, such as TD, A-2, Video playback, Master Control, Stage Mgr., etc.
  • Ongoing development and updates to the company’s website
  • Design and build landing pages
  • Design and create e-marketing campaigns
  • Design and build sales presentations
  • Design and build management presentations
  • Design and build print and digital ads
  • Design and build graphics and video for social promotion
  • Optimize company SEO on its website and other platforms
  • Edit videos and photos together for social media posts
  • Create wireframes or mockups for web pages and applications
  • Design layouts for mobile, tablet, and desktop devices
  • Create branding and identity systems for websites, apps, and other media
  • Design graphics, icons, and logos
  • Design custom Word Press themes
  • Implement visual elements of websites
  • Research and evaluate new design trends
  • Establish and maintain design standards and best practices
Requirements
  • Must have experience building production graphics for live broadcast
  • Must have 3+ years’ experience with the Ross Xpression system
  • Must have experience working in a live broadcast environment
  • Must have live production experience in sports, news, and entertainment
  • Experience developing graphics for various delivery devices
  • Proficiency with HTML, CSS, and Java Script
  • Proficiency with required desktop publishing tools, including Photoshop, InDesign, Quark

    XPress, After Effects, and Illustrator
  • A strong eye for visual design and composition
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Understanding of marketing, production, website design, corporate identity, product packaging, advertisements, and multimedia design
  • Experience with computer-aided design
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
