Overview
CEIR is seeking a Communications Fellow to join our team in 2026-27 and expand our efforts to build confidence in elections that voters should – and do – trust.
Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid)
Final date to receive applications: 9 pm ET / 6 pm PT on January 30, 2026 (application review will begin January 20)
Position Overview
The Communications Fellow will report to the Communications Specialist and work in collaboration with the Communications and Content Teams to amplify CEIR’s work supporting elections and election officials.
These outreach efforts include writing blog posts and social media content, assisting with editing CEIR videos, creating new CEIR graphics, generating ideas for new content products, and monitoring news for stories relevant to CEIR’s work. The Communications Fellow will also provide logistical support for CEIR webinars and media briefings.
The Communications Fellow may have the opportunity to propose one or more projects in support of CEIR’s efforts to reach new audiences in the lead-up to the 2026 midterm elections.
This Fellowship is a full-time, term-limited position planned to last 12 months (anticipated March 2026 through February 2027).
This Fellowship is an entry-level role, and all interested candidates with a relevant college degree or equivalent work experience are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities- Draft social media content to share to CEIR channels
- Monitor news developments for stories and trends relevant to CEIR’s work
- Generate ideas for new CEIR-related content
- Write blog posts promoting CEIR’s work
- Assist with editing short-form videos for CEIR’s social media channels
- Collaborate with the CEIR research team to bring their work to new audiences
- Provide logistical support for CEIR events, including webinars and media briefings
- Contribute to a team culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning, quality, collaboration, positivity, and transparency
- Maintain effective communication with team members and participate in regular team meetings
- College degree (BA or BS) in a related discipline such as communications, journalism, public policy, or political science. Preference will be given to applicants who have graduated from their program within the last four years. Exceptional candidates without related college degrees will also be considered.
- Work or internship experience in the non-profit or government sectors is a plus
- Experience in social media management, graphic design and/or video production is a plus
- Familiarity with the media landscape and an eye for opportunities to reach new audiences
- Ability to work objectively and in a nonpartisan manner with respect to CEIR’s mission
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on detail and accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort working in a hybrid or remote environment
- Commitment to promoting inclusion, equity, and diversity both in your work and in the workplace
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- A passion for protecting elections and supporting the officials who oversee them
- 12-month, full-time position
- Up to 100% of health, dental, and vision insurance premiums paid for by CEIR
- A 401(k) plan that vests immediately and with up to 5% match (i.e., CEIR matches 100% of your contributions up to 5% of your annual pay)

The Center for Election Innovation & Research (CEIR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose core mission is to work with election officials and build confidence in elections that voters should trust and do trust. CEIR has a proven record of working in a nonpartisan manner with election officials from around the country and from both sides of the aisle. To achieve its goals, CEIR seeks to increase informed civic engagement by educating the public, providing support to election officials, and conducting practical research on best practices for election administration.
