- Experience &
Education:
Minimum 3‑5 years of on‑air anchoring and reporting in a top‑20 major market or comparable scale. Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field required. - News Judgment:
Superior news judgment and a strong, current understanding of local, national, and world events. - Technical Acumen:
Demonstrated expertise with modern newsroom computer systems, live technology, and non‑linear editing tools. - Digital Dominance & Brand Building:
Track record of using digital platforms (social media, website, streaming) for proactive news‑breaking, community building, and brand elevation. - Pressure‑Tested:
Proven ability to work accurately, efficiently, and calmly under extreme pressure and fluid deadlines. - Professionalism:

Pay Rate: $67.30–$83.70 per hour, dependent on education, skills, experience, and location. This role is eligible for medical, dental, vision, insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Union‑represented employees receive benefits per the collective bargaining agreement.
Additional DetailsTo be considered, candidates must submit a reel of recent on‑air work demonstrating anchoring, reporting, and live breaking news abilities. The position is primarily a morning shift but requires flexibility for evenings, weekends, holidays, and breaking news coverage as a 24/7 news operation. Candidates will be required to join the SAG‑AFTRA Washington‑Mid Atlantic Local union for the on‑air news unit.
