A well-established general contractor operating throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia is seeking an Estimator to join their preconstruction team. This position will support active bidding efforts and work closely with project managers, ownership, and subcontractors throughout the preconstruction process.
The ideal candidate has experience estimating commercial construction projects and understands the pace and detail required in a GC environment.
Responsibilities- Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals
- Perform quantity takeoffs from construction documents
- Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor pricing
- Review drawings, specifications, and project scopes
- Assist with bid leveling and budget development
- Support handoff from preconstruction to operations
- Corporate office build-outs
- Institutional and education projects
- 2+ years of estimating experience with a GC or subcontractor
- Strong understanding of construction documents
- Experience with takeoff and estimating software
- Proficiency with Excel and Bluebeam preferred
- Strong analytical and communication skills
