The Manager of Practice Operations plays a pivotal role in supporting the operational and business objectives of the firm’s practice groups. Reporting to the Director of Practice Operations, this position is responsible for coordinating resources, monitoring performance, and ensuring the seamless execution of operational initiatives. The Manager collaborates closely with Practice Group Leaders (PGLs), attorneys, and business services teams to drive efficiency and deliver high-quality support for client service, financial performance, and talent management.
EssentialFunctions Operational Support
- Partner with the Director and PGLs to implement practice priorities and business objectives.
- Maintain and improve practice management processes to ensure efficiency and scalability.
- Coordinate operational updates and assist with process improvement initiatives.
- Track KPIs and prepare regular reports on operational performance and goal progress.
- Work with Finance to gather and review key financial metrics (e.g., utilization, billings, collections).
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes for the practice group.
- Monitor revenue goals, expenses, and client reporting.
- Assist in pricing and alternative fee arrangement analysis with the Director and pricing teams.
- Partner with People Operations to support attorney recruitment, onboarding, and retention initiatives.
- Monitor workloads and assist in resource allocation.
- Coordinate initial candidate vetting and interview scheduling.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Business Development to execute client outreach initiatives.
- Track business development budgets and ROI.
- Facilitate cross-practice collaboration for client targeting efforts.
- Promote adoption of legal tech tools and knowledge-sharing platforms.
- Assist in process enhancements and collect feedback for improvements.
- Coordinate communications between attorneys and business services teams.
- Escalate operational issues to the Director as needed.
- Assist with special projects and other tasks as assigned by the Director.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field.
- 5–7 years of experience in legal operations, practice management, or professional services coordination.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with data analysis tools.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in an AmLaw firm or legal services organization.
- Familiarity with practice management software, business intelligence platforms, and document management systems.
- Exposure to legal pricing or alternative fee arrangements.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $155,000 to $165,000. The actual base salary offered will be dependent upon the applicant’s experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to, relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, geographic location.
