Position Overview
Landsman Building Performance Services (LBPS) is a specialized consulting firm providing energy benchmarking, third-party data verification, ASHRAE energy audits, and Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) compliance services for commercial and multifamily real estate owners across multiple jurisdictions.
The Senior Energy Benchmarking & Building Performance Manager is a senior, hands-on role responsible for owning the execution, organization, and client experience of LBPS’s benchmarking, compliance, and audit-related work. This individual serves as the organizing and driving force behind high-volume client delivery, ensuring data integrity, timely follow-ups, disciplined workflows, and clear communication, while helping build the systems and reputation of a firm known for excellence.
This role is designed for someone who runs complex work independently, takes pride in follow-through, and brings both operational rigor and client empathy. You will be trusted to operate with minimal oversight and to make sure that things get done correctly, on time, and without drama.
Core ResponsibilitiesClient Delivery & Account Execution
- Own end-to-end delivery of energy benchmarking, data verification, and compliance reporting for a large and growing portfolio of commercial and multifamily clients
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during benchmarking, audit coordination, and compliance cycles
- Proactively manage client communications, including data requests, clarifications, follow-ups, and deadline reminders
- Ensure client questions, data gaps, and action items are resolved without requiring leadership intervention
- Deliver a consistently high level of professionalism and care that reinforces LBPS’s reputation for reliability and service
High-Volume Workflow & Administrative Organization
- Independently manage a large volume of concurrent properties, clients, and regulatory deadlines
- Track open items, dependencies, follow-ups, and submissions across multiple jurisdictions
- Maintain clear, organized records of data status, communications, deliverables, and approvals
- Coordinate and effectively leverage administrative or junior support as available, while retaining ownership of outcomes
- Anticipate risks and bottlenecks and take corrective action proactively
Data Management, Systems, and Knowledge Infrastructure
- Help design, implement, and maintain systems to store, retrieve, and reference client data, documentation, and benchmarking outputs
- Establish standards for data organization, version control, documentation, and quality control
- Ensure client data is accurate, accessible, portable, and usable across benchmarking, audits, and compliance engagements
- Improve internal tools and trackers that support visibility, accountability, and scale
- Serve as a steward of institutional knowledge related to client portfolios and historical performance
Energy Benchmarking & Compliance Execution
- Oversee and perform energy and water data collection, validation, and entry in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager
- Ensure benchmarking data meets verification and regulatory requirements
- Prepare and submit benchmarking, verification, and BEPS-related filings to relevant agencies
- Identify and resolve data anomalies, quality issues, and inconsistencies
- Stay current on evolving benchmarking and BEPS requirements and integrate changes into delivery processes
Energy Audit Coordination
- Coordinate energy audit site visits between clients and our energy auditors
- Prepare pre-audit data packages and building information for site visits
- Review draft audit reports for accuracy, clarity, completeness, and alignment with client goals (QA/QC)
- Translate audit findings into clear, client-facing summaries and recommendations
- Manage audit-related follow-ups, revisions, and final deliverables
- Reach capability — Participate in audit field work or report development as needed, though this is not a core requirement of the role
Using Data to Identify Follow-On Opportunities
- Analyze benchmarking and audit results to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
