Kforce has a client in Washington, DC that is seeking a Payroll Manager.
Position Overview:
The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing and processing payroll operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll for employees across multiple entities and states. This role manages the full payroll cycle, including payroll processing, tax compliance, reconciliations, and issue resolution. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on payroll experience, proficiency with Paylocity, and the ability to manage complex payroll scenarios with minimal oversight.
- Process and manage biweekly payroll for employees across multiple entities and states using Paylocity
- Review and reconcile time and attendance data, earnings, deductions, PTO, and approvals prior to payroll submission
- Ensure accurate payroll tax withholding, reporting, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Research and resolve payroll tax issues, discrepancies, and notices
- Open, maintain, and manage state and local withholding and unemployment accounts as needed
- Process payroll corrections, retroactive adjustments, reversals, and off-cycle payrolls
- Coordinate benefit and retirement deductions and reconcile contributions with third-party vendors
- Partner with HR and benefits teams to ensure accurate employee data, benefit elections, and payroll changes
- Maintain accurate payroll records, documentation, and audit trails
- Support quarterly and year-end payroll activities, including tax filings, amendments, and W-2 preparation
- Serve as a point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees and managers
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and system efficiency
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent payroll experience
- 5+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a multi-entity or multi-state environment
- Strong working knowledge of Paylocity
- Experience with payroll tax compliance and issue resolution
- Solid understanding of wage and hour laws and payroll best practices
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
