Overview

The Atlantic Council seeks an enthusiastic organizer, thinker, and communicator for a full-time Program Assistant position to serve in its Geo Economics (Geo Econ) Center. This entry-level position will be dedicated to supporting the work of the Geo Econ team’s dynamic Future of Money (FOMY) pillar, which produces cutting-edge research and data visualization to shape the way forward on the future of the dollar, payments systems, Central Bank Digital Currencies, stable coins, and cryptocurrencies.

General responsibilities will entail supporting events and research, preparing senior staff for meetings with external stakeholders, and contributing to data analysis and data visualization work. While the Program Assistant position will primarily support the FOMY pillar, they may also be periodically tasked with supporting other pillar priorities within the Geo Econ team as needs require and capacity allows.

The successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit, communicate effectively, and enjoy the complexity of helping to build a rapidly growing program. The candidate should have a background in economics with an interest in digital finance and foreign affairs. The position requires strong research skills, experience in organizing programs and events, strong social media capabilities, excellent administrative and communication skills, superior writing ability, extraordinary attention to detail, and a proven aptitude for managing the day-to-day logistics of a fast-paced Center.

Additionally, the successful candidate for this position will be committed to the Atlantic Council’s core mission to renew the Atlantic community, as well as enthusiastic about finding pragmatic solutions to pressing global economic challenges. Finally, the candidate will have a desire to excel in the position and advance in the organization.

This position is based in our Washington, DC, headquarters, requiring a minimum of 4 days per week in office. The Atlantic Council offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience,education, and organizational equity, with offers from $56,000 to $58,000.

Job Responsibilities

Administrative and Program Support

  • Conduct in-depth research to support the Future of Money’s trackers and core research initiatives.
  • Manage program contacts, stakeholder lists, program metrics, and assist with maintaining internal tracking tools and deadlines.
  • Draft correspondence and support logistics for program events, briefings, and convenings, including coordination with internal teams and external partners.
  • Take detailed notes and prepare concise briefings and summaries for events, hearings, and meetings attended by the program.
  • Assist in the strategic planning and execution of meetings, workshops, and round tables, including agenda development and participant coordination.
  • Support the drafting, editing, and proofreading of policy briefs, reports, background memos, and other internal and external materials.
  • Assist with communications and outreach efforts, including supporting social media content and communications strategy around major conferences and events.
  • Help manage Future of Money Young Global Professional interns.

Research and Program Development

  • Support program leadership in the development and execution of research projects related to the Future of Money portfolio, including but not limited to cryptocurrencies, stable coins, CBDCs, and payment systems.
  • Conduct targeted research on economic, financial, and geopolitical developments relevant to the Future of Money’s work streams.
  • Contribute to concept notes, project proposals, and analytical outputs in close coordination with the program’s Associate Director and Senior Director.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, international relations, or other relevant fields;
  • Inclusive of internships, 1+ year relevant work experience, ideally within research environments;
  • Demonstrated interest in digital currencies, payment systems, the Bretton Woods Institutions, and/or related areas;
