Overview
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the largest national civil engineering association, seeks a part-time (15-20 hours a week) office coordinator to provide administrative and logistical support to our Washington DC office of 8-10 government affairs professionals. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to get some first-hand experience working in a busy policy and government affairs operation or looking for a flexible part-time role.
Responsibilities- Coordinating in-person meetings, including reserving meeting space, ordering catering, and managing other logistics
- Handling external mailings for the government affairs team, including preparing for conferences and other events
- Ordering office supplies as needed, and managing inventory of technology equipment
- Managing office subscriptions, invoices, and renewals
- Overseeing electronic and hard copy file management
- Running weekly GRII staff meetings, including developing agendas and managing tech support for conference room
- Supporting Legislative Fly-In logistics, as well as inputting member information into customer relations database
- Answering occasional general telephone and email inquiries
- Distributing mail to staff and coordinating with ASCE Headquarters staff in Reston
- Owning tenant relationship with office building, including attending tenant meetings, reporting maintenance issues, etc.
- Coordinating GRII internal reporting, including the department's monthly report to the Executive Director
- Other duties as assigned to support government affairs objectives.
- Associates degree or equivalent college work or experience preferred
- 1-3 years of combined administrative and/or government affairs internship experience
- Proficiency with MS Teams & MS Office
- Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills

This position works in the DC office near Union Station at least twice a week, with the option for additional hours worked remotely.
