The Executive Assistant for the Office of the EVP and Dean of Georgetown University Law Center (the "EA") provides high-level administrative support to the Office of the Executive Vice President and Dean of Georgetown Law ("the Dean’s Office") at Georgetown University Law Center, located on the Georgetown University Capitol Campus. The EA is a self-directed team player who takes initiative, anticipates needs, ensures consistent high quality products and materials, and adapts to different situations.
This critical role requires a proactive and self-directed professional who anticipates needs, demonstrates excellent judgment, and ensures the seamless management of complex priorities.
As a primary receptionist for the Dean’s Office, the position serves as the first point of contact for visitors and callers, providing a professional and welcoming experience while managing a high volume of incoming communications. Key responsibilities include greeting guests, answering and directing phone calls, scheduling appointments, and maintaining front office organization and security. The EA works collaboratively with other Dean’s Office staff to ensure the front office is appropriately staffed and provides consistent in-person coverage during business hours, while also supporting administrative functions such as handling correspondence, coordinating information flow, and assisting staff as needed.
Dutiesinclude but are not limited to
- Responsible for expertly managing three demanding calendars; coordinating meetings, travel, and events; preparing briefing materials; and supporting key initiatives led by the COO, Deputy COO, and Associate VP for Finance
- Responsible for processing reimbursements and contracts and assisting the finance team, in addition to handling correspondence, coordinating information flow, and providing general administrative support as needed. In this role, the EA serves as a primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies and handles matters with discretion, diplomacy, and a high level of confidentiality. This position provides backup support to the EA for the Executive Vice President and Dean of Georgetown Law in planning, scheduling, and maintaining the EVP/Dean s calendar, including arrangements for meetings, events and travel, with consistency and acute attention to detail, and provides backup support for managing reimbursements.
Interactions
The position reports directly to the Associate Vice President and Chief of Staff, who manages Dean’s Office personnel and has two primary responsibilities: one, to serve as the primary administrative support for three key Law Center leaders: the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Deputy COO, and Associate Vice President for Finance, and has a dotted reported line to each of these three positions;
and two, to serve as a primary receptionist for the Dean’s Office.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 7 years of progressively responsible administrative experience supporting senior leadership or C-level executives, preferably in higher education, nonprofit, or similarly complex organizations.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven organizational and analytical abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks under tight deadlines.
- Discretion, sound judgment, and professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential information.
