About the role:
Reporting to the Director of Major Gifts, the Senior Major Gifts Associate supports the Major Gifts team, including maintaining financial and donor data and managing administrative systems.
The Senior Major Gifts Associate will join a high-performing, collaborative, and dedicated development team of 8, tasked with raising $25+ million annually. To be successful in this role, the Senior Major Gifts Associate is expected to be proactive, communicate effectively, have a sharp eye for details, and strong collaborative and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate should have a keen interest in helping to resource the Indivisible movement and in helping to foster a culture of philanthropy across the organization.
The main duties of this position include weekly gift processing, management of our financial and donor data within our CRM, grants tracking and administration, processing of formal acknowledgment letters, general department inbox, and upkeep of team spending reports.
We are hiring for this position immediately. This position is full-time, with a salary range of $60,400-$77,250 per year, commensurate with experience. This position includes in-office responsibilities and requires you to come into our DC office at least one day a week. For this reason, we are only able to consider applicants that currently reside in the DMV area, or those that are willing to relocate if hired.
What you’ll do:Data Management and Gift Processing (50%)
- Prioritize knowledge management, ensuring all major donor data is properly stored and maintained in Salesforce.
- Manage financial data, including gifts, pledges, and grant reporting, within Salesforce.
- Lead and innovate on gift processing, including tracking and processing checks, wires, and online contributions.
- Work closely with Finance staff to ensure compliance.
- Maintain and improve upon existing data tracking systems to maximize efficiency, accuracy, and visibility through innovation.
- Manage and lead on fulfilling requests for donor information from the Development team including: donor data and relevant KPIs.
- Manage incoming mail – appropriately recording new information, managing grant agreements, and coordinating for response as appropriate
- Maintain good data hygiene by updating relevant donor information from meeting notes, event participation, research, and donor correspondence.
- Lead on tracking and sending formal acknowledgements by mail or email to all major donors
- Draft and update formal acknowledgement letters
- Manage major donor team financial reporting requirements as appropriate
- Manage and track grant reporting and proposal requirements; work closely with the finance team on budget and financial requests; track upcoming reporting deadlines; manage and record clear and
-consistent guidelines for all reports and proposals
- Support MG team in event planning and travel, helping to schedule meetings and coordinate cross-team on agendas and itineraries
- Manage general department inbox and respond to donors' needs in a timely manner or assign to other members of the Major Gifts team as appropriate.
- Assist with major donor prospecting and research, preparing memos and briefings as needed.
- Help in other cross-team development efforts.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in fundraising support, with at least 2 years experience in nonprofit development or campaign finance.
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to quickly and professionally prepare or proofread development materials.
