Job Description:
Payroll Manager – Accounting
This requires being onsite 4x per week in DC.
Responsibilities- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and internal accounting standards.
- Conduct thorough financial analysis to support business decisions and identify financial trends and variances.
- Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Oversee end-to-end payroll accounting processes, including payroll journal entries, payroll accruals, and reconciliation of payroll-related accounts.
- Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of wages, bonuses, commissions, benefits, taxes, and deductions.
- Manage payroll tax reporting, filings, and remittances in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Partner closely with HR and Payroll teams to validate payroll data, resolve discrepancies, and support audits.
- Oversee preparation of financial and payroll-related reports for internal stakeholders, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls related to payroll processing, reporting, and compliance.
- Utilize accounting and payroll systems, including Quick Books and ADP, to ensure efficient and compliant financial operations.
- Support external and internal audits by preparing payroll documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide insights on financial concepts, labor costs, and performance metrics.
- Assist in the development of budgets, forecasts, and workforce cost projections.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll and accounting processes through automation and best practices.
- Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold the firm’s respectful and courteous work environment.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with demonstrated payroll accounting responsibility.
- Proven experience in corporate accounting or similar roles, including financial analysis and reporting.
- Strong working knowledge of payroll accounting, payroll tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent understanding of debits, credits, and balance sheet reconciliation processes.
- Experience working with payroll and accounting systems such as ADP, Quick Books, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential payroll information with discretion.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Keen attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and completeness in all work.
