Job Description & How to Apply Below
Our client is adding a Project Accountant to support a growing portfolio of jobs. You’ll own day-to-day project accounting—WIP schedules, AIA billing, and job cost—and partner closely with project managers to ensure accurate, timely billing and clean financials throughout the project life cycle.
What You’ll Do- Prepare monthly WIP schedules, analyze over/under billings, and support revenue recognition under percentage-of-completion.
- Review cost-to-complete, margin impacts, and forecast updates with PMs.
- Create and submit AIA G702/G703 applications for payment, including progress billing, retention, and change orders.
- Coordinate lien waivers, certificates of insurance, and other compliance documents.
- Set up new jobs, maintain coding structures, and monitor commitments, subcontractor requisitions, and vendor compliance.
- Reconcile project costs vs. budgets; investigate variances and drive corrective actions.
- Support month-end close for assigned projects (accruals, reconciliations, journal entries, audit support).
- Maintain documentation and internal control standards; recommend process improvements.
- Partner with Project Managers, Procurement, AP/AR, and field teams to resolve issues quickly and keep projects billable and cash-positive.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of project accounting experience in a construction or project‑based environment.
- Hands‑on experience with WIP reporting, including preparation of WIP schedules, analysis of over/under billings, and understanding of percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition.
- Proficiency with AIA billing (G702/G703), including preparing pay applications, managing retention, and processing change orders.
- Strong understanding of job costing, project tracking, and cost‑to‑complete analysis.
- Solid Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups) and comfort working in an ERP/project accounting system.
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage deadlines across multiple active projects.
- Ability to collaborate with project managers, accounting staff, and field teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure billing accuracy.
- Competitive salary range: $75,000 – $90,000 + bonus
- Employees are paid on a biweekly basis.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
- Generous PTO: 15 days annually + sick leave
- Opportunity to work with a dynamic and growing organization
