Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis. Based in Washington, District of Columbia, this role involves ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial processes, particularly focusing on invoice management and corrections. If you have a strong background in accounting and a passion for maintaining organized financial systems, this opportunity is ideal for you.

Responsibilities:

- Review and correct approximately 200 existing invoices to ensure accuracy.

- Create and implement a standardized template for future invoicing needs.

- Manage high-volume invoicing tasks with precision and efficiency.

- Prepare journal entries and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.

- Assist with corporate tax returns and sales tax calculations.

- Utilize Quick Books to streamline accounting processes and maintain records.

- Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with financial regulations.

- Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial documentation.

- Provide support for month-end and year-end closing activities. Requirements - Proven experience in creating and managing invoices in high-volume environments.

- Proficiency with Quick Books and other accounting software.

- Solid understanding of sales tax and corporate tax return preparation.

- Expertise in journal entries and general ledger maintenance.

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial processes.

- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members.

- Previous experience in a non-profit industry is a plus.

- Availability to work on a contract basis for approximately one month.
