HRecruits is representing a well-established, independently owned CPA firm (Baltimore-Metro Area) that has taken a deliberate, people-first approach to growth for decades. This full-time hybrid role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on tax work, trusted client relationships, and autonomy. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing tax filings, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing financial statements, and providing accounting support.
The role also involves advising clients on tax strategies, conducting tax audits, and collaborating with teams to meet client needs effectively.
- Prepare and review business tax returns (partnerships, S‑corps, closely held entities)
- Work directly with small to mid‑sized business owners and professional clients
- Handle straightforward accounting and bookkeeping matters (primarily Quick Books)
- Prepare or review some individual and fiduciary returns (nice‑to‑have, not required)
- Collaborate with partners who remain actively involved with clients
- 5-10+ years of tax experience in public accounting (open to varying experience/levels)
- Strong foundation in business tax and core accounting
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a team
- Experience with CCH Axcess or Pro System FX is a plus (training available)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA certification preferred (or active interest in pursuing)
- Experience in tax compliance and a strong understanding of tax regulations
- Proficiency in tax preparation and general tax‑related processes
- Knowledge of financial statements and strong accounting skills
- Attention to detail, client‑centered, effective communication, and ability to work collaboratively
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
