Senior Accountant

Our client, a mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting audits, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.

• Perform and review month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy across multiple funds and programs
• Prepare internal financial reports for leadership, program managers, and the Board
• Manage grant and fund accounting, including tracking restricted and unrestricted funds
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Support annual audit and tax filings (Form 990), serving as a liaison with external auditors
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
• Help improve accounting processes, internal controls, and documentation
• Support AP, AR, and cash management activities as needed
• Utilize Sage Intacct to maintain financial data integrity and reporting accuracy

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization
• Strong understanding of fund accounting and nonprofit financial reporting
• Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct required
• Solid knowledge of US GAAP
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with reporting and dashboards a plus
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a mission-driven environment
