Compensation & Benefits
* Base pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications

Position Summary We are looking for a skilled, dependable Equipment Operator to join our field crew on civil construction projects.

The right candidate is comfortable operating a variety of machines safely and efficiently, works well as part of a team, and understands the demands of public works construction — including grade tolerances, trench safety, and jobsite coordination. This is a full-time, year-round field position.

Responsibilities
* Operate excavators (mini through large), backhoe, and skid steer on active civil construction sites
* Perform excavation, grading, trenching, backfill, and material handling tasks to grade and plan specifications
* Work closely with laborers, pipe layers, and foremen to maintain efficient and safe production
* Conduct pre-operation inspections and daily equipment checks; report any mechanical issues promptly
* Follow all trench safety, shoring, and OSHA requirements at all times
* Operate equipment in proximity to existing utilities with care and full awareness
* Assist with equipment transport, site setup, and general site work as needed
* Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment on all job sites

Qualifications Required
* Minimum 3 years of hands-on equipment operating experience in civil or underground construction (preferred)
* Proficiency operating small to large excavators, backhoe, and skid steer
* Ability to read and work to grade stakes, cut sheets, and basic construction plans
* Working knowledge of trench excavation, shoring systems, and utility installation
* Strong awareness of jobsite safety practices and OSHA standards
* Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a crew
* Valid drivers license; CDL a plus for equipment transport

Preferred / A Plus
* Bulldozer operating experience — finish grading, cut/fill, site clearing
* Motor grader proficiency for road and site grading work
* Experience on public works projects with inspection oversight
* OSHA 10 certification
* Ability to operate water trucks, rollers, or other support equipment

Physical Requirements This is a physically demanding outdoor position. Candidates must be able to work in varying weather conditions, climb in and out of equipment, and perform physical tasks as needed. Adherence to all PPE requirements is mandatory.
