Warwickshire County Council – Personal Advisor
OverviewAre you passionate about making a difference in the lives of care‑experienced young people? We are looking for a highly motivated personal advisor to empower and support care‑experienced young people aged 18‑25 as they transition into independence and adulthood. Warwickshire County Council is embedding Families First teams that work across local services, health, police and education to support the whole family.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Personal Advisor you will:
- Build meaningful relationships with care‑experienced young people, earning their trust and demonstrating empathy.
- Create individual pathway plans, tailored to each young person’s needs, goals and aspirations; support life‑skills, education, training and employment opportunities.
- Advocate for the rights and needs of care‑experienced young people, ensuring their voices are heard and influencing positive change.
- Collaborate with partner agencies and organisations to deliver coordinated, seamless support.
- Facilitate workshops, training sessions and group activities that enhance life skills, emotional well‑being and self‑confidence.
- Travel within Warwickshire and out of county; regular access to a vehicle required.
- Provide non‑judgmental support and guidance for care‑experienced young people, ensuring they are aware of and access all entitlements through the local offer for care leavers.
- Background in youth work, advocacy or first‑hand knowledge of care‑experienced young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build strong relationships.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach; ability to provide non‑judgmental support.
- Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
- Positive, resilient mindset with willingness to adapt and go the extra mile.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required.
- Supportive managers with a robust supervision policy focused on wellbeing and workload.
- A Volunteering & Wellbeing Day in addition to generous annual leave and an extra day at Christmas.
