The Opportunity

A leading housing association's in-house property maintenance team is seeking an experienced Grounds Maintenance Operative to join their established team based out of Shustoke, delivering high-quality grounds and estate services across the Birmingham area.

This is a hands-on, outdoor role maintaining landscaped and communal green spaces to a high standard. You'll take pride in creating attractive, safe environments for residents and communities.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for a wide range of grounds maintenance duties, including:

Tractor and pedestrian grass cutting

Strimming and brush cutting

Hedge cutting and shrub pruning

Planting, weeding and weed control

Litter picking and general estate upkeep

What's on Offer

Base salary: £26,319 per annum

Additional payment: £564 per annum
* Permanent, year-round employment

25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays

Option to purchase up to 5 additional days' leave

About You

You'll be a reliable team player with a positive, can-do attitude who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in their work. You'll be comfortable working in the community and engaging professionally with residents.

Essential Requirements

Proven grounds maintenance experience, ideally within social housing, local authority or similar environments

Experience using relevant plant and machinery

Good understanding of Health & Safety practices

A genuine passion for outdoor work in all weather conditions

Full UK driving licence (essential for this mobile role)

Must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the Shustoke depot

Desirable

Gardening or horticultural skills or qualifications

PA1 / PA6 spraying certificates

Working Hours (Annualised Contract)

Summer (March - November): 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Winter (December - February): 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
