Staff Nurse - Willoughby Ward

Overview

Willoughby is an acute ward with 24 beds and specialises in lower gastrointestinal surgery. Prior to Covid-19, Willoughby’s main focus was on elective pre and post-operative nursing care of bowel surgery patients. A change of pathway now has given Willoughby nurses the opportunity to adapt their surgical skills and to focus on patients admitted as an emergency. You will have the opportunity to nurse patients both pre and post operatively after emergency surgery and develop acute surgical nursing skills.

The role offers the opportunity to develop skills with stoma care, epidurals, PCA’s, care of central lines, nutritional support such as Total Parental Nutrition (TPN) and various wound dressings including Vacuum Assisted Closure.

Various hours and shift patterns will be considered.

To deliver a high standard of nursing care to patients undergoing surgical or medical treatment.

The post holders will be responsible for the assessment of patient care needs, and implementation and evaluation of the programme of the care.

The post holders are required to work as part of a team committed to delivering and improving a high standard of nursing care within South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust.
