This role holds supervisory responsibility for the disclosure processes, managing disclosure staff on an operational basis and reporting to the Disclosure Manager.
Main Responsibilities- Coordinate the operational implementation of all disclosure policies and processes to ensure legal compliance and consistency with best practice standards issued by relevant bodies.
- Oversee the processing of all disclosure enquiries related to ongoing investigations involving the protection of children and vulnerable adults, and those working in a position of trust, ensuring proper recording for audit purposes.
- Monitor and provide performance reports in line with defined Service Level Agreements, through regular reviews and evaluations.
- Provide advice and guidance to staff and other stakeholders on relevant disclosure matters, interpreting complex technical and lawful instructions and statutes.
- Monitor the risk associated with disclosure through environmental scanning and report to the Disclosure Manager as required.
- Maintain disclosure processes with partner agencies, adapting services in response to policy changes and communicating these changes to all relevant staff.
- Represent the unit at relevant internal and external meetings and conferences at force and national level as required.
- Support the development of information compliance training and awareness sessions for police officers and staff.
- Undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.
- Lead a team, managing their welfare and development, ensuring high motivation levels.
- Monitor and manage team performance, identify and address issues, and improve individual and team performance.
- Assess individual capabilities and development needs, agreeing appropriate development plans to enable high performance.
- Coordinate the work of the team, directing activities, monitoring progress, and managing competing demands and priorities.
- Supervise the handling of information and record keeping, ensuring alignment with legislation, policies and guidance.
- Monitor and report on team expenditure to ensure efficient budget use and value for money.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing processes, identify opportunities for change and innovation, and enable continuous improvement.
- Regular travel throughout Warwickshire Police.
- Exposure to disturbing/unpleasant images or tasks.
- A Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge of Family Court Procedures, the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, the Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act and Human Rights legislation in relation to disclosure policies.
- Demonstrable evidence of a commitment to personal and professional development.
- Experience of supervising teams of staff and individuals.
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships and operate as part of a wider team.
- Experience in motivating teams to achieve targets and meet standards.
- Experience in contact/customer service environment.
- Experience of monitoring risk and quality assurance measures.
- Proven ability to negotiate with and influence senior managers and external bodies using reports, presentations or otherwise.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to present to all levels.
- Proven ability to research, develop and implement new policy and processes and provide advice to leadership teams and other departments.
- Proven ability to assess risk and prioritise workloads under pressure of strict guidelines while managing a high workload.
