Children's Occupational Therapist

Seeking an experienced Band 6, Childrens Occupational Therapist, to join our special school team. You will be supporting school age pupils 4-19 years at home and within the six Warwickshire Special School provisions.

The post holder will undertake developmental and functional assessments for a dedicated caseload. Have experience assessing, prescribing and monitoring specialist Children's equipment to promote access to daily living activities and postural management. A working knowledge of sensory based approaches would be beneficial.

Applicants will need excellent communication and team working skills. Be able to work independently and manage a varied caseload.

Clinical cases are allocated using a prioritisation model, supported by integrated clinical pathways. Clinical pathways align to current evidence-based practice and inform quality standards for the service.

You will receive regular clinical supervision and caseload management. You will be supported and encouraged to continuously develop to meet the needs of our service and your profession.

Main duties of the job

To provide effective Occupational Therapy service to children and young people across Warwickshire and nearby counties within a variety of community based settings.

Following the principles of Governance, to develop and maintain a high quality service, through recognised professional standards, evidence based practice, and effective clinical audit programme.

To use a client centred approach within the multi-disciplinary team, and to work as an autonomous practitioner to enable each client to achieve their potential in areas of self-care, productivity and leisure, and to promote independence and participation in life roles in the home, community and educational settings.

To manage a caseload of clients with complex conditions.

To deputise for the Senior Therapy Staff as required.

To deliver a graduated needs led approach to assessment and provision in line with the active service delivery model and pathways.

To prescribe equipment and resources relevant to practice, in line with the policies and procedures of the local Integrated Community Equipment Service within their authorised budgetary limit.

To ensure medical devises are fit for purpose in line with the Trust medical devices policy and action repair of faults.

To ensure clinical activity is inputted onto the electronic record system in accordance with Trust record keeping policy.
