About The Team
Located within the Gypsy & Traveller Team, we are seeking an experienced and capable individual to take on the role of a welfare‑based Site Manager. You will work independently in a unique and rewarding position within an experienced and supportive team, and a highly engaged wider partnership.
AboutThe Role
Working as part of Warwickshire County Council’s Gypsy & Traveller Team, you will contribute to the safe and effective operation of the Council’s permanent Gypsy and Traveller sites by supporting the Gypsy Roma Traveller (GRT) community with various welfare needs. Welfare support and partnership working will play a key role in the smooth running of sites. Your work will help residents access welfare benefits and health services, liaise with partner agencies to support the welfare and standard of living for site residents, and strengthen community cohesion between the Gypsy and Traveller communities, local residents and partners.
You will also work with Site Managers where enforcement is necessary to ensure the residents have support during any enforcement action, and work closely with statutory and voluntary partners to promote health, education, and inclusion within the community. This is a dynamic role that involves both independent work and collaboration across the County, including occasional out‑of‑hours responsibilities.
Key Requirements- Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience in supporting vulnerable adults and families.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to manage sensitive and challenging situations confidently.
- Experience working with excluded or deprived communities, ideally including the Gypsy and Traveller community.
- Experience working with a wide range of statutory and voluntary sector partners.
- Understanding and ability to interpret complex legislation and policy frameworks, including the Mobile Homes Act, Health & Safety, and Equality of Opportunity.
- Excellent organisational, decision‑making, and IT skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and travel effectively across Warwickshire.
- Understanding of Gypsy and Traveller culture and community engagement practices.

Salary:
Scale I £33,699.00 – £36,363.00 (plus standby/call‑out allowance, reviewed annually in line with cost of living).
Location:
Based at Shire Hall, Warwick / with travel across Warwickshire.
Hours:
Full‑time, with occasional unsociable hours.
Fixed‑term contract for 12 months.
