Electrical Design Engineer

?? Warwick | Full-Time | 40 hours per week?? Mon-Fri, 8:30am-5:00pm | Occasional site visits & limited overseas travel

We are recruiting on behalf of an established engineering business for an Electrical Design Engineer to design bespoke electrical control systems. This role covers the full lifecycle-from customer requirements and design through to manufacture and commissioning  support.

Key Responsibilities Design electrical schematics, layouts, and test procedures for bespoke control panels

Liaise with customers to define technical requirements and solutions

Produce clear drawings to support efficient panel manufacture

Develop and modify PLC programs where required

Ensure compliance with UK legislation and relevant EU directives

Review and implement engineering changes (drawings, BOMs, test docs)
Provide technical support to production, installation, and commissioning teams

Support component selection, alternatives, and cost optimisation

Requirements

Essential:

Degree-level (or equivalent) qualification in Electrical / Engineering discipline

Experience with single and three-phase motors and control systems

Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar electrical design software

Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Desirable:

PLC programming (Boolean logic)
Knowledge of BS7671 and the EU Machinery Directive

Experience with frequency inverters or control panel manufacture
