Marine Project Manager Apprentice, Strategic Infrastructure

About the Role

The Marine Project Manager Higher Apprentice role is based within our Strategic Infrastructure Team (SI), a new team that has been set up to deliver 17 new major projects in the UK and other strategic projects to support our net‑zero ambitions. As the UK Government aims to reach 50GW of renewable energy by 2030, our goal is to help the UK switch to clean energy and to ensure our electricity network can carry more clean, secure power from where it is generated to where it is needed.

As a Marine Project Manager Higher Apprentice you will play a crucial role in enabling this transition by supporting the installation of subsea power cables. The apprenticeship will provide hands‑on experience in project management within the marine engineering sector, focusing on planning and executing subsea operations.

• Assist in the planning and coordination of subsea power cable installation projects.
• Support the project manager in monitoring progress and reporting on key milestones.
• Help with logistics and resource management for marine operations.
• Participate in safety assessments and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and contractors to facilitate project tasks.

The role is based in the Warwick office and offers flexible, hybrid working. You must live within a 45–60‑minute commuting distance of CV34 6DA
and be prepared to travel up to 10,000 miles annually.

• Minimum of five GCSEs with grades 9 to 4 (A
  * to
  
  C), including English, Maths and a Science (or equivalent).
• Anticipated or have two A‑Levels at grade C or above, including one of:
  Geography, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Environmental Science, Business Management or a BTEC National Certificate/Diploma Level 3 at Grade Merit or Distinction.
• Strong interest in marine engineering, project management and renewable energy.
• Driving licence required; if not yet obtained, must be held by 31 May 2026.
• Flexibility to travel and stay in pre‑booked accommodation for overnight stays when required.

You don’t need prior work experience; determination and the will to succeed are far more important as you will be taught everything you need to know. The role will equip you with a variety of transferable skills to support your career development within National Grid.

Starting salary of £31,310 for this apprenticeship, with annual increases.
