Smile Education is working in partnership with a successful and vibrant secondary school in Redditch, part of the Bordesley Trust, to recruit a highly organised, professional, and committed School Operations Officer.
This is a key leadership role within the school’s support structure, ideal for an experienced operations professional who thrives in a varied, fast-paced environment and enjoys making a real impact on the day-to-day life of a school community.
The Role Working closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, the School Operations Officer will lead the school’s non-teaching operations, ensuring the school runs safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with statutory and Trust requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Leadership and line management of the administration and site teams
Oversight of health & safety, premises, contractors, and compliance
Management of policies, SLAs, contracts, and statutory records
Maintenance of the Single Central Record (SCR) in line with safeguarding requirements
Coordination of staff inductions, HR administration, and personnel records
Liaison with the Trust HR department to support smooth HR processes
Oversight of fire drills, lockdown procedures, and risk assessments
Supporting school communications, including newsletters, reports, and social media content
Producing operational reports for governors and senior leaders
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics (Grade A–C / 4–9)
Strong experience in school operations, administration, facilities, or compliance
Proven leadership and staff management experience
Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
A calm, professional, and proactive approach to problem-solving
A strong understanding of safeguarding, health & safety, and compliance within an educational setting
Experience working within a secondary school or multi-academy trust is highly desirable.
