Job Summary
Gifts in Wills are an essential part of The Myton Hospices' fundraising, enabling us to continue supporting patients and families across Coventry and Warwickshire.
As a Legacy Administration Officer, you'll play a vital part in securing this income and ensuring supporter and stakeholder relationships are developed and supported.
This is a part‑time position (15 hours per week, Monday‑Friday office hours) based in our Warwick Hospice.
Main Duties- Well‑developed administrative skills and high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with trustees, executors and the public.
- Well organised with an understanding of legal aspects of probate and estate law.
- Right to work in the UK.

- Maintain records of all legacies notified to Myton.
- Monitor notification reports and examine estate accounts to ensure Myton receives its bequest.
- Ensure smooth administration of estates and expeditious receipt of income.
- Liaise with solicitors and executors on progress of estate administration; main contact for correspondence.
- Address or identify inheritance tax / probate implications for Myton.
- Provide instructions on property / share sales, in liaison with the Director of Strategic Partnerships & Major Philanthropy.
- Correspond with co‑beneficiaries to gather information and decide best actions.
- Maintain and update paper and fundraising database files.
- Prepare monthly legacy updates for the Director of Strategic Partnerships & Major Philanthropy.
- Support the Individual Giving Team with the overarching legacy plan.
- Build effective relationships with supporters to maximise income and ensure a great supporter experience.
- Attend legacy events and supporter engagement activities where required.
- Assist with communication and correspondence for the Director of Strategic Partnerships & Major Philanthropy.
- Organise and book fundraising meetings as agreed.
- Take minutes at meetings, write up notes and circulate to the fundraising team.
- Help run campaigns and initiatives as needed.
- Participate in annual appraisal and training as identified.
- Participate in mandatory training appropriate to the post.
- Abide by the policies and procedures of The Myton Hospices.
- Complete any other duties commensurate with the post.
Essential Skills and Attributes:
- High level of computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office.
- Clear, articulate written and verbal communication.
- Excellent people skills, negotiation and adaptability to diverse audiences.
- Efficient, organised, methodical with eye for detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.

Essential
Experience:
- Customer service / donor care experience.
- Experience managing a varied diary and workload.
- Experience working to deadlines.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
- Fundraising experience.
- Experience with databases.
- Legacy administration experience in a charity or legal firm.
- Experience in estate law and inheritance tax (IHT).
- UK driving licence and vehicle access.
