Primary Function: At the administrative direction of the Radiology Manager and the clinical direction of the Radiologist/Team Leader, independently performs all exams without any supervision within the section employed. Serves as a positive role model, while working in collaboration with all levels of departmental personnel.
Responsibilities- Competently operate all units of the section’s imaging equipment including X‑Ray, Mammography and Bone Density, performing high‑quality procedures safely and efficiently.
- Review requisitions and determine proper room setup and radiation amounts. Study required views relative to patient anatomy and perform examinations.
- Evaluate diagnostic films to ensure quality studies, repeating any unsuitable films as necessary.
- Perform independent quality control procedures at designated intervals on imaging and ancillary equipment to ensure compliance with Federal and Joint Commission standards of care.
- Train employees and students in day‑to‑day procedures.
- Communicate and problem solve regularly with other divisions of the department, establishing ongoing lines of communication with other departments through meetings and discussions. Work proactively with other departments to facilitate patient access to the scheduling of exams.
- Demonstrate competency in the use of all applicable aspects of the Radiology Information System (RIS), Clinical Information System (CIS), Picture Archiving System (PACS) and other computer systems unique to each imaging section.
- Participate in continuing education activities as required by the section employed.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
An associate degree in Radiologic Technology and minimum six months job‑related experience or equivalent is required. CPR Certification required. ARRT certification in Radiography and Mammography is required.
