Special Education Teacher - Warwick, RI

This opportunity is for a dedicated Special Education Teacher working with 3rd to 5th grade students in a self‑contained classroom setting located in Warwick, RI. The classroom supports four students with moderate to severe needs, primarily children on the Autism Spectrum who are nonverbal. The environment is designed to provide individualized attention, with two to three paraprofessionals assisting in daily activities.

• Developing and implementing personalized educational plans tailored to students unique learning and behavioral needs.
• Collaborating closely with paraprofessionals to ensure consistency and support throughout the school day.
• Working alongside a multidisciplinary team including a Speech Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, and an additional intensive special educator.
• Monitoring student progress and adapting teaching methods to enhance communication, social skills, and academic growth.
• Maintaining clear communication with families and caregivers to support student development.

• Experience teaching special education to elementary‑aged students, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder and communication challenges.
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to work effectively within a team‑based setting.
• Knowledge of various therapeutic techniques integrated into the classroom environment.
• Patience, creativity, and a passion for fostering meaningful learning experiences for students with significant disabilities.
