Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time Special Education teaching opportunity is available from mid-September through December, covering a maternity leave at an elementary school serving third-grade students. This role involves working Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing targeted support to students requiring specialized instruction within a supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver individualized instruction and support to third-grade students with diverse learning needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies to foster academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom culture.
- Possession of a Rhode Island Special Education Teacher Certification.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably in third grade.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Ability to collaborate with paras and other support personnel.
- Effective communication skills and a passion for student-centered instruction.

This contract position replaces a teacher on maternity leave and requires a commitment through December. The school provides supervision through support staff, enhancing a collaborative work environment.
