Two positions are open. It is possible one person could fill both. CAOLH teachers are tasked with delivering excellent instruction and participating in the culture and life of the academy for the sake of student formation. There is one section of Biology, which meets 4 days per week. There are 2 sections of Theology, which meet 3 days per week each.
As part of the role, teachers should:
- Deliver excellent instruction in their subject areas.
- Participate in the culture and life of the academy for student formation.
- Collaborate to support a robust school culture that goes beyond the classroom.
- Mission and vision alignment, expertise in the subject matter.
- Thoughtful lesson planning, effective organization, clear communication.
- Practical wisdom and ability to create a classroom atmosphere that fosters joy, respect, order, wonder, and active participation.
- Strong applicants should be animated by a spirit of wonder and a desire to grow intellectually, professionally, in character, and in faith.
- Desirable:
Having taught or previously been educated in classical schools. - Commitment to ongoing intellectual, professional, and spiritual formation; participation in teacher coaching and school community outside the classroom.
- Willingness to take an Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.
Part-time teachers are encouraged to attend daily Mass at the school when possible as part of modeling for students.

- 1) What are you interested in teaching and able to teach? Note that full-time teachers must teach multiple different subjects.
- 2) Why are you interested in applying to CAOLH?
- 3) What are your own intellectual and personal aspirations, in general and as related to CAOLH?
- 4) What relevant experience do you have with teaching and forming children and young adults? Have you worked with large groups of children and young adults?
- 5) What relevant experience do you have with classical education? (Did you go to a classical school? Have you taught at one? Are you self-taught in reading from the Great Tradition, e.g., from Homer and Plato through Flannery O'Connor?)
- 6) What are the characteristics of excellent teaching?
- 7) Are there examples that show (a) that you are capable of implementing order and, when necessary, giving students consequences for behavior, and (b) that you are able to receive and implement coaching effectively? (6) Are there examples that demonstrate your ability to plan effectively and maintain strong organization?
